RIT Greek Award Applicaions

Fraternity and Sorority Life at the Rochester Institute of Technology holds its annual Greek Awards Ceremony to recognize RIT Greek community, its chapters and members.

Below you can find the descriptions and links for this year's RIT Greek Awards Applications! This year we are allowing for nominations to be completed through self-nominations or on behalf of another individual and chapter.

2023 Greek Award Applications

**Nomination eligibility is for the spring 2023 and fall 2023 semesters**

Application Deadline: Sunday, March 10, 2024 at 11:55pm!

  • RIT GREEK PERSON OF THE YEAR

    The RIT Greek Person of the Year Award recognizes one fraternity & one sorority member for their exceptional commitment to both their chapter and the community at large. This is the highest award an individual fraternity or sorority member can receive as an RIT Greek student, and reflects on the individuals who exceed all expectations and sets the precedent for future members of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

    **If a minimum of 5 nominations are not submitted for both fraternities & sororities, the selecting committee will only select one recipient for the entire community**

  • EMERGING LEADER

    The Emerging Leader Award recognizes one fraternity & one sorority member who joined in either the spring or fall semester of that calendar year. The recipient of this award has demonstrated their outstanding commitment to their new member education process, their adjustment into an active role, their dedication to their academics, and the Greek community as a whole.

    **If a minimum of 5 nominations are not submitted for both fraternities & sororities, the selecting committee will only select one recipient for the entire community**

  • CHAPTER LEADER OF THE YEAR

    The Chapter Leader of the Year Award recognizes one fraternity or sorority member who holds a leadership position on their chapter's executive board during the calendar year and has demonstrated excellence in leadership throughout their term. This individual has exhibited service and leadership to fraternity and sorority life, their chapter & the RIT community while bettering the spirit of their organization.

    **If a minimum of 5 nominations are not submitted for both fraternities & sororities, the selecting committee will only selection one recipient for the entire community**

  • DISTINGUISHED ADVISOR

    The Distinguished Advisor Award serves to recognize one faculty/staff or chapter/alumni advisor who most exemplifies the values of the organization. This person provides leadership and guidance to the organization by going above and beyond their everyday responsibilities.

  • OUTSTANDING ALUMNI RELATIONS

    The Outstanding Alumni Relations Award recognizes one chapter of the fraternity and sorority community who has made extensive efforts to engage with their alumni. This award is based on a chapter's cumulative efforts to build and maintain relationships with their alumni base by providing alumni with the opportunity to connect with the current RIT community through chapter programming & developmental support.

  • LASTING LEGACY AWARD

    The Lasting Legacy Award recognizes one chapter within Fraternity & Sorority Life that has made outstanding contributions towards supporting their surrounding communities. The recipient of this award is determined by comparing a chapter's average community service hours per member to the overall greek life average. The Lasting Legacy Award is given at the discretion of the Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement.

  • PHILANTHROPIC EXCELLENCE AWARD

    The Philanthropic Excellence Award recognizes one chapter within Fraternity & Sorority Life for their cumulative efforts towards bettering the community through philanthropic programming. Philanthropic programming can be defined as any workshops, initiatives, social media campaigns or advocacy programs where a direct financial support is made on behalf of the chapter to a non-profit organization. The Philanthropic Excellence Award is given at the discretion of the Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement

  • DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION AWARD

    The Diversity Equity & Inclusion Award recognizes one chapter within Fraternity & Sorority life who has demonstrated sustained initiatives to promote diversity, build community, raise awareness, and create a more inclusive and equitable atmosphere at the Rochester Institute Technology. These programs/initiatives could focus on but are not limited to the following themes: Race/ethnicity, religion, gender, sex, the Deaf and Hard of hearing community & the LGBTQIA+ community

  • COLLABORATIVE EXCELLENCE AWARD

    The Collaborative Excellence Award recognizes one chapter within Fraternity & Sorority life who has excelled in creating outstanding collaborative initiatives to bridge the gaps, improve communication, leadership and partnerships with other groups/organizations within the Rochester community

  • OUTSTANDING ACADEMIC PROGRAMMING

    The Outstanding Academic Programming Award recognizes one chapter within Fraternity & Sorority life who has made extensive efforts to promote academic excellence to their chapter members & the community at large. The recipient of this award is a chapter who has created and executive programs and initiatives focused on academic excellence. The Outstanding Academic Programming Award is given at the discretion of the Academic Success Center.

  • EVOLUTIONARY AWARD

    The Evolutionary Award recognizes one chapter within fraternity sorority life who has made the largest strides in internal/external programming, academics, philanthropy & community service initiatives to improve their chapter within the RIT greek community. The recipient of this award has demonstrated their outstanding commitment to promote the values of Fraternity Sorority Life at RIT on a consistent basis.

  • COMMUNITY IMPACT AWARD

    The Community Impact Award recognizes one chapter within fraternity sorority life who has made the largest strides in external programming, philanthropy & community service initiatives to support the Great Rochester Area. The recipient of this award has demonstrated their outstanding commitment to bettering the community by not solely focusing on the RIT community but focusing more on the Rochester community
