Kilian J. and Caroline F. Schmitt Interfaith Center

The Schmitt Interfaith Center is home to Spirituality and Religious Life at RIT, and is located immediately to the east of the Campus Center and Student Alumni Union and connected to them via the Fireside Lounge. The center was a gift from Kilian J. and Caroline F. Schmitt and other donors, and was constructed in 1985. You may reserve the following rooms in the Schmitt Interfaith Center via RIT Events.

Allen Memorial Chapel (SMT-1500)

Allen Memorial Chapel is our largest space that seats up to 120 people.

Settings

The space includes chairs, several tables suitable for altars, two pianos, and an organ. The simple setting is free from religious symbols and suitable for multiple uses.  Upper windows cascade light from north, east, and south.

Good to know

No food or drink is allowed in Allen Chapel (aside from religious sacraments). The space is equipped with an audio-video system. When booking for performance, consider booking Jones Chapel as well to ensure acoustic privacy.

Jones Memorial Chapel (SMT-1510)

Jones Memorial Chapel is our smaller chapel that seats up to 40 people.

Settings

The space includes chairs, several tables suitable for altars, and an upright piano.  This intimate setting is free from religious symbols and suitable for various uses.  Floor-to-ceiling windows face east and south.

Good to know

No food or drink is allowed in Jones Chapel (aside from religious sacraments). This space does not have an audio-video system.

Skalny Room (SMT-A500)

The Skalny Room is our large, multipurpose room that is located on the lower level (stairs and elevator accessible) and seats up to 72 people.

Settings

The space includes movable tables and chairs and can be rearranged for banquets, classes, meetings, or pushed aside to leave open floor space for prayers, meditation, or yoga. Windows face the north, east, and south.

Good to know

Food and drink are allowed in this space and it is connected to a small kitchen to facilitate catering (cooking in this kitchen requires advanced approval). The space is equipped with an audio-video system and podium.

Sun Room (SMT-2402)

The Sun Room, aptly named due to its plethora of sun-facing windows, is our smallest room that is a conference room on the second story of the office suite (stairs only, not ADA accessible) and seats 8-10 people.

Settings

The space includes chairs and a large table for meetings and presentations. Windows face east.

Good to know

There is no audio-video system in this room.
