Alissa Eckert is a medical illustrator at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and one of the artists behind the iconic COVID-19 image. She shared with us her experiences working at the CDC, the process of visualizing the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and how the world reacted to her creation!
Annie Campbell is an award-winning medical illustrator and animator. With her business partner Emily Holden, she co-founded and directs Now Medical Studios and educational channel Learn Medical Art. Campbell spoke to our club about entrepreneurship and business practices in medical illustration.
RIT alum Ashley Mastin is a Scientific Illustrator with Science Magazine, where she produces medical, scientific, and editorial illustrations. She shared with us her career journey after graduating from RIT's medical illustration BFA program and her experience working at Science Magazine.
RIT alum Emily Beikirch is the Director of Medical Visualization at medical legal firm Iconographics. She shared with us her career journey after graduating from RIT's medical illustration BFA program and her experience working in the medical legal field.
Jennifer N.R. Smith is an award-winning illustrator and author based in Bristol. Her first children's book, GLOW, was published by Thames and Hudson in 2023. She shared with us her experience and expertise in nonfiction children's book illustration.
Jill Gregory is a former president of the Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI) and the Associate Director of Instructional Design at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Her client list also includes the American Cancer Society, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and numerous doctors and researchers. She spoke to us about her creative process and career experiences.
RIT alum Lara Gorick is a Special Agent Forensic Artist for the South Caroline Law Enforcement Division. Her work includes composite sketches, facial reconstructions, and age progression and post-mortem illustrations. She presented to us about her niche field of work and creative process.
Marie Sena is the founder and owner of Restorative Tattooing and Electric Eye Studio. She specializes in 3D areola tattooing for women after breast cancer and reconstruction. She spoke to us about her experiences as a medical illustrator and professional tattoo artist.
RIT alum Val Altounian is a former Senior Scientific Illustrator for the American Association for the Advancement of Science. She spoke to us about her creative process and past projects and led a Cinema 4D demonstration.
