Our Vision

The Catholic Newman Community at RIT aspires to be a growing, vibrant, Christ-centered community rooted in the Roman Catholic tradition where all are welcome and invited to know God’s love and mercy.

Our Mission

Promote strong Catholic faith formation through sacraments, prayer, education, service, and social engagements, and provide a supportive, nurturing environment home for all RIT students, faculty, staff, and other community members.

Our Purpose

We are the Catholic Newman Community at the Rochester Institute of Technology. We are a growing and vibrant community that nourishes and integrates faith and learning, and together we share our gifts with all the world. While affirming the individual, Newman seeks to empower the community to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Catholic Newman Community engages in every aspect of life at RIT through prayer, liturgy, community service, and pastoral care. Together we invite all to develop his or her unique faith through worship, reflection, and service. We foster the development of leadership on campus as well as in service to the poor and marginalized of our world.

Located in the Schmitt Interfaith Center, within Spirituality and Religious Life, we are committed to promote ecumenical and inter-religious understanding. Through these practices, we commit ourselves to foster understanding and respect between and among the various religious traditions embraced by members of the RIT community. In doing this, we come closer to seeking justice and peace in our community and world. Newman believes the world needs each of us. Together, let’s discover and celebrate God’s intimate love for each of us while we share this good news with the world in which we live.
