What are you doing this weekend?

The College Activities Board is the primary event planning organization on campus! We are student-run, and responsible for major events like the 2024 CAB Concert and the FallFest Carnival, diverse weekend events like Build-a-Buddy and Flower Factory, collaborative events like Mid-Autumn Festival and Bumpin’ Boulevard, and destination events like the Bills games and amusement parks.

CAB is a unique and rewarding student employee experience! CAB staff get to create their own work schedule, get a behind-the-scenes look at major events, and have a major impact on RIT Student Life.

CAB staff are paid an hourly rate in alignment with New York State minimum wage.

What drives us

At CAB, our recruitment process revolves around three key principles that we not only use to assess our current staff but also apply to evaluate prospective candidates.

Professionalism

We prioritize clear communication, punctuality, and a strong work ethic, ensuring that every task, event, and interaction reflects a high standard of conduct.

By maintaining professionalism, we establish a positive reputation among our peers, faculty, and external partners, fostering trust and credibility in all our activities.

Inclusivity

We strive to create an environment where every student's voice is heard and valued, regardless of their background, identity, or abilities.

By prioritizing inclusion, we actively seek out different viewpoints, engage in respectful dialogue, and design events that are accessible and welcoming to everyone. Our goal is to ensure that every member of our college community feels empowered to participate, contribute, and flourish within our activities.

Creativity

We believe that cultivating an environment where fresh ideas are celebrated leads to the creation of engaging and memorable experiences for our college community.

Embracing creativity means encouraging members to think outside the box, experiment with new approaches, and collaborate across diverse perspectives to deliver events and initiatives that capture attention, inspire participation, and set new trends.

Hiring Process

1. Resume Screen

Your resume is in, now what?!

During our resume screening process, we will spend time getting to know you and your experiences, assessing those qualifications against the current needs of our organization to identify candidates who best align with our goals and values.

2. Panel Interview

Select candidates will be invited for an interview with our hiring team. This 30-min interview is all about diving into your skills and experiences. We're excited to learn more about you and make sure we're a perfect match for each other. You'll have a chance to chat with up to 5 members of our hiring team.

3. Group Processing Day (GPD)

All candidates who are selected for a Panel Interview are also invited to participate in our Group Processing Day.

At Group Processing Day, candidates participate in a 2-3 hour workshop involving collaborative challenges with other applicants. The focus is on assessing teamwork abilities and engaging candidates in tasks specific to the roles they're applying for. It provides a realistic preview of the job responsibilities and allows us to evaluate how well candidates work together in a group setting.

While GPD is not a required component of the hiring process, it is highly recommended that all candidates make an effort to attend to further demonstrate their interest and aptitude for the roles they are applying for.

4. Final Decisions

After completing the various evaluation stages, our team reviews all gathered information to make informed hiring decisions. We carefully consider each candidate's strengths and fit for the roles, aiming to build a team that aligns with our organization's goals and values.
