Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the RIT Archery Club?

We are a recreational club that allows RIT students to learn and practice the sport of archery. We meet every week on Saturday from 8-10PM. See more info in the Events tab.

Is equipment provided?

Yes. We provide left and right handed recurve and Genesis compound bows. We also have arrows, protective equipment, recurve and compound sights, and paper targets available for members to use.

Can I bring my own equipment?

Personal equipment is encouraged, but must be in good condition and under our range limit of 30 lb draw weight due to RIT regulations. If you are a student in RIT dorms, you are not allowed to keep your bow in your dorm and instead must store it in the Archery Closet in the SLC. Contact a member of the E-Board for more information

Do I need any experience?

No! We accept all skill levels, and will teach you everything you need to know! We provide basic coaching for all members and all skill levels.

Are there club dues?

Yes. Your first two meetings are FREE, and club dues will be required at your 3rd meeting. For the 2024-25 school year, club dues are $20 per semester or $30 per year. Please refer to the official CampusGroups store for the most updated pricing.

How do I attend meetings?

Due to RIT regulations, there is a set capacity for weekly meetings. We release weekly sign ups on our Discord, which is strongly encouraged for the best way to sign up. Members can show up for the first 15 mins of each time slot to see if there is any available space, but it is not guaranteed.

NOTE: At the beginning of each school year (August-September) we see a large spike in interest, which may make it difficult to secure a spot due to first come first serve signups (we often have 100+ people sign up but only 30 spots available). If you are unable to secure a spot during that time, don't give up! We recommend waiting until October, when it is more likely to receive a spot for meetings.

Are there any requirements for the club?

Due to RIT regulations, all members must sign up via CampusGroups to complete the required safety waiver. In addition,

Is the Archery Club and Club Archery competitive team different?

Yes! The recreational club is open to all skill levels and meets on Saturdays from 8-10PM, equipment provided. The team requires try-outs to join and is focused on competitive archery and meets Saturday 12-2PM. The E-Board runs both the club and team.
