WHAT IS BACC?

  • Mission Statement

The mission of the Black Awareness Coordinating Committee is to improve the college experience of Black students through unification, upliftment of the community, and by promoting cultural and social consciousness to all.

  • Historical Background

The Black Awareness Coordinating Committee (BACC) is an organization built on a rich history of achievement, pride, and unity. It began as a way for minority students to unify and build a strong voice for the African American students when very few acknowledged what they felt or had to say. Today, the fundamental purpose of the BACC is to improve the overall image, mindset, and college experience of the Black student at the Rochester Institute of Technology. BACC will accomplish this by providing events, and working with like-minded clubs and individuals, that promote academic success, cultural and social consciousness, and community service.
