Hello Tigers!

Despite complications from rainy weather, Beekeeping Club members were still able to go out and do two hive inspections. Thank you to those who helped out!

Our next meeting will be this Saturday, 9/17, in the 1829 Room (SAU 1510) at 3pm! We'll be making soap using some of the wax and honey we harvested.

This Week's Hive Updates

Hive C:
- Took off top medium box
- replaced undrawn frames in the second box with drawn frames
- Took off queen excluder
- Around 8 frames of brood
- Eggs seen and consistent
- Not great brood pattern, but probably due to time of year
- Did powdered sugar roll, counted 7 mites

Hive D:
- eggs, larvae, and brood seen
- decent honey stores, need to reduce boxes and consolidate top box frames with nectar for winter
- Need to do a powdered sugar roll on the next inspection

Several members of the Beekeeping Club gathered around a hive, preparing to inspect it.

Hive Inspections

Make sure to fill out our hive inspection waiver before signing up to join us at a hive inspection! Some times have already been uploaded (weather permitting), and you can see all of the hive inspections on our sign up sheet here.
Anyone can join an inspection regardless of experience! Make sure to wear shoes with socks that completely cover your ankles and let the Bee Board member leading the hive inspection know if you have any known allergies to bee stings.

Get Connected!

We have a discord where we frequently send out reminders about meetings, hive inspections, and honey extractions. Make sure to join here to have access to this information!
