Snow has begun falling, the temperature keeps decreasing, and we’re over here chilling with a bundle of books between the ice and the well of inspiration. Happy Hump Day, where we’ve reached the top of the curve and are set to barrel ahead at high speeds. As in, the speed and excitement factor will go up before the end of the tested and certified rollercoaster numbered 2251. No one’s crashing and burning today, because we’re a responsible lot.
HalloZine + Blind Book Sale (11/21)
Remember the HalloZine? Well, we certainly hope so, because it wasn’t that long ago. The point is, we’re doing a Zine Sale. The fruit of everyone’s October labor, the HalloZine will be sold in the SAU, Friday November 21st, at 10 AM to 4 PM. Whether you want to see your work printed out, or support everyone who helped contribute, stop on by.
But we understand the importance of variety, so at the same time and place, we’ll be running a Blind Book Sale. All you get is a genre and a description to find your treasure amongst the mysteries. Come help support the club.
Moving Forward
All of this information and more will be repeated in the coming days to make sure it sticks, be it through Discord, emails, meetings, or posters. Thanksgiving Break is coming fast, but it somehow feels like finals are coming in even faster; however, there are a couple more things to watch out for. It’s recently become apparent that the E-board could use a few extra pairs of hands. So if you’re interested in helping out this club in a big way, keep your eyes on our Discord.
It might feel like we’re going fast, but the ride’s not over quite yet. Stay close, and it’ll be worth it. Trust.
Best,
The Wordsmiths Executive Board
Book Night + Draw-ine Collab (11/13)
This week’s activities are pretty standard, but there’s an extra splash of color on the side. For our regular club meeting, we have Book Night where each member brings their long-time or current literary obsession for a quick bout of analysis on what makes it great. And that’s only half of what’s planned for the meeting.
Tomorrow, the Wordsmiths will be collaborating with the Drawing Club to elevate their zine. See, RIT’s Drawing Club has its own zine in the works, but while they found themselves more than great on illustrations, they didn’t have much else. That’s where we wordsmiths come in, to do what we do best. The Drawing Club has provided us with some of their pieces, and then we will be tasked with fleshing out their vision with the written word. Bring a book and bring your best.
Scrapbook Journal Night (11/14)
All the supplies you would need, we have it. Scraps, scissors, staples, and even snacks to grease the wheels. Come by Wallace this Friday, in WAL-1660 at 7:00pm.
