FROM YOUR SEMESTER TO DO LIST

This list was shared in your training folder, and it’s reshared here as reminders. Be sure to check out this list for things to do to keep you on track.

ACTION REQUIRED: STARFISH ROSTER VERIFICATION REPORT
As you know, RIT 365 Facilitators have a crucial role in identifying “no show” students for the University. The Starfish surveys must be completed no later than 24 hours after your 2nd class. You should have received an email from Starfish with instructions for completing the surveys. If you have not received the Starfish email, reach out to Deborah for assistance.

Here’s where you can find the Starfish Roster Verification Tutorial video and Starfish Early Alerts Guide for more information.

BI-WEEKLY FACILITATOR MEETINGS

Our Bi-Weekly Facilitator meetings start next week. Please double check here for your group and location assignment. We hope you’ll come to value each meeting as a time to share ideas and challenges with other facilitators in a space much like the one you’re creating for students.

COACHING

Before we get much further in the semester, Co-Facilitators should begin scheduling one-on-one coaching meetings with students. We’ve discovered that meeting with students on the earlier end, has a more positive impact on their experience and aids us in helping with needs as soon as possible.

As a reminder: All students must meet with each Facilitator once, for a total of two coaching sessions. Some Co-Facilitators prefer to divide the class in half, with Facilitators each meeting with their “half” prior to October break. Then switch to the other half after the break. Find what works best for you. This is perfect to discuss together during your weekly Co meeting time.

Links for coaching surveys will be uploaded to the “Facilitators Only” section of myCourses on 9/15. Until then, please take your own notes for each meeting using the questions on pages 43-44 of the Facilitator Reference Guide.

COURSE SCHEDULES & SYLLABI

  • All classes now have their full schedule posted as a link on myCourses, in the top right widget.
  • Room reservations for the first round of “Dos” are in the works, and are being added to your class schedules as they are confirmed.
  • A link to the PDR Experience Guides for each section is available in the “Facilitator’s Only” content portion of myCourses. Use these guides when preparing for PLAN and REFLECT classes.
  • Be sure the contact information for both Facilitators is displayed on the myCourses homepage. Refer to the Facilitator Resources page or Facilitator Reference Handbook (p. 66) for guidance.
  • To track attendance, mark students as present or absent using the Gradebook in myCourses.
  • Under no circumstances should class be canceled. If you have a planned absence please reach out to us for support.

CLASSROOM POLICIES

Teaching in the HAC: For those teaching in the HAC, the building staff has sent some

guidelines. Most importantly, if you move chairs/tables to create a circle, be sure to reset

the room when you are done. Some students are always willing to help with this.

Other policies include:

  • A valid RIT ID is required for building access
  • If the room is locked, please see the recreation attendant at the Student Life Center entrance for access.
  • The divider wall is locked into position. Do not attempt to move it.
  • Use dry erase markers ONLY on the dry boards.
  • For A/V equipment issues, contact Classroom Support at 585-475-2551 and notify the SLC Main Office for follow-up if necessary.

RELIGIOUS ACCOMMODATIONS

Religious Accommodations: The Center for Spirituality and Religious Life has published the

list of religious holidays for the 2023-2024 academic year. In general, students may be excused

from class to observe religious holidays but are still responsible for maintaining the work and

expectations of the course. RIT 365 Facilitators are expected to work with students to

accommodate their needs and help them maintain their progress in the course.

The full list of holidays and RIT attendance policies can be found on the SRL website.

ON-DEMAND TRAINING
If you have not already done so, please complete your required On-Demand Training requirements. Here is a link for the On-Demand Module This module should be completed no later than 9/29. For Training Specifics visit the Training Flowchart
