PCC News for Tuesday, January 28th:

Image ID: A small woodstove sits in the corner of a room. Outside a window to the left of the stove we see snow on the roof of an edifice. Logs are piled up to the right. Cozy.

Howdy! Our woodstove Calcifer has been working overtime this winter, brrr. I hope your work and drive are keeping you toasty these chilly days.

We have lots to look forward to this week, let's find ways to pass the time and keep our spirits full until we feel the sun's rays again. Here we are.

Worship Remix Tonight: DnD with Jeremiah

PRISM (We're there all semester! Yahoo.)
5:00 - 6:15ish

This is going to be fun! I remember getting into the basement of some sort of desert base, then we played a trick on the animal guards? (I'm sure Abby took notes.)

Whether you're a DnD expert or simply curious, come laugh and play with PCC dear friend Jeremiah. Storytelling can help us make sense of just about anything, the perfect way to learn about ourselves and each other in a low pressure way.

PCC @ Ripple Conference

Some of our SRL Interfaith Council are preparing to go to a very cool interfaith + arts conference in North Carolina from Feb 21st to 23rd. I'll likely be joining as Chaplain, emcee, and clown.

Want to come? It'll be an amazing chance to meet some new friends and see where our faith is headed.

~*~* Christianity is Magic*~*~

Did you know that we're in the liturgical season of Epiphany? We're in a season right now. The great part of the church calendar is that we're always in a season.

After Advent (December's waiting for baby Jesus to appear)

and Christmas (The season celebrated over 12 days, of course)

we get a day to celebrate the Magi bringing gifts! As seen in this fantastic clip-art:

I've seen Epiphany celebrated through feasts -- our Orthodox neighbors love their feast days -- and have always wondered how we can consider the spiritual formation of this season in new ways.

There's an Epiphany cake we love of course, but I think your generation and beyond can help us find new ways to celebrate and consider what Epiphany means for the future of our faith.

It's a bit of a bridge season before Lent, but I think there's something to glean here: Ideas are still appearing before us. Mystic gifts could appear where we least expect. Potential still lives within unjust structures and unChristian executive orders. The Spirit of God will not be legislated through tariffs! Epiphany lives.

Let's ponder the word in the weeks ahead. Lent's late this year so we have some time. What spark of creation is in your heart?

Coming Up:
  • Stop by the Gordon Fieldhouse at 11:00 for an announcement regarding RIT's new President! Reception at 11:30, we assume there will be snacks.
  • Games Can Help has been rescheduled for Friday, March 28th! Want to join the leadership team? Tons to do.
  • Drop-in Counseling hours are back from 2:30 - 4:30. We're keeping visits on the shorter side -- around 30 minutes -- to accommodate seeing multiple folks in the window, see you soon.
