Our students are halfway through their first semester! We love observing your classes. Recently we heard a Facilitator tell a student “You don’t need to phone a friend for this” as an easy-going reminder to stay present in the class and keep devices in pockets. Holding everyone accountable to class guidelines creates a space primed for dialogue.
CLASS OBSERVATIONS Our class observations are well underway. Please keep an eye on your email for notification of an upcoming observation. To support continuous improvement, the YOP team strives to observe as many RIT 365 facilitators as possible. If you’d like us to come observe you, please email Robyn or Deborah. If you have been observed and received your feedback, please remember to complete your post-observation survey which was included in the email you received with your feedback.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS
Gradebooks: Please keep your myCourses gradebook up to date. It’s important for students to know their standing in the class, especially if they are missing work.
Portfolios: Remind students to include at least one tagged skill for each portfolio submitted.
Remember to grade on the rubric and share feedback to students within the myCourses gradebook, rather than in the Portfolio tool itself.
Do not cancel class for any reason! Even if a last minute emergency, contact the YOP team if there is a need for someone to cover your class. We are here to support you.
Resources reminder: Remember that myCourses, Portfolio, coaching support, and tutorials are available on the Facilitators Recourses site.
BI-WEEKLY TEAM MEETINGS
Health Promotion will continue as our guests at Biweekly meetings this cycle. Sara Engle and Beau Gibbs will discuss supporting our students' mental health. These meetings will all be conducted on ZOOM. We are unable to record these meetings, so please do your best to attend one.
Note: We will NOT BE HAVING regularly scheduled Biweekly meetings, during week 7 (10/9 and 10/10) and week 8 (10/16 and 10/17); attendance at the Health Promotions meetings will replace the Biweekly meetings for these two weeks.
The same ZOOM LINK will be used for all of the sessions below.
Wednesday 10/9 12 noon and 4:00pm
Thursday 10/10 9:00am and 12 noon
We are gathering questions from any facilitator regarding mental health support for students, and/or situations that you’d like advice on navigating with students in your classes. Please email any questions to yop@rit.edu or complete this form.
In the upcoming weeks, remember to check the location for your assigned Biweekly Facilitator meeting. There are a few location changes throughout the semester as noted here. You’ll notice we’re moving some dates to ZOOM to allow easier access. You may choose to attend in person or over Zoom. Remember Biweekly meetings are an important time to connect with other facilitators in a way that enhances your understanding of the RIT 365 course, student engagement, and idea sharing.
If you’ve missed your usual Biweekly Meeting time, please attend any other Biweekly Meeting on the schedule.
