PCC News for Tuesday, September 2nd:

Image ID: A small rubber ducky sits on a chipped wooden shelf. (Some metal plastic contraption is on the shelf underneath, maybe a coffee pot? Rice cooker?) The rubber ducky, lovingly named "Jesus Duck," has long black hair and a beard, its face is Shrek-green. It holds a cartoonish red heart. Peace emanates from this duck.

Dear ones, big week on deck. Labor Day's done, (over a thousand protests across the US yesterday!) now we get to work. We're here for good food and well-paced fun. Let's start thinking about hot tea and life under blankets.

I am delighted to hear how your semester begins. You have things to create, problems to solve, and community to discover. Let's get to it, beloved.

Tonight: Dinner Dialogue in PRISM

Campus Center, Second Floor (One floor up from Fireside Lounge!)
5:00 - 6:30ish

Let's eat pizza and tell some stories. This week we'll look at our shared communal norms and talk about how faith communities grow.

Then we'll share stories about how we got here! This would be a great event for some of newbie first years who want to see what PCC's all about.

~*~* Christianity is Magic*~*~

We were talking on Discord a few days ago about Bibleman... watch out!

"The series centers around an evangelical superhero who fights evil, often by quoting scripture, and sometimes breaks the fourth wall."

"An action packed dramatic adventure and lessons in God's word" is perfect. The costumes hit.

It's problematic but so was all of Evangelical Christianity in the 90s. So is a ton of Christian stuff these days!

I hope, as you get work done this week, that you create something wild and out there with unfettered optimism. Because nothing, dear scholars, will be as heretical and strange and aimless as Bibleman. We've found the high watermark for weird Christianity, God bless.

Coming Up:
  • Join our lovely TABLE Community on Sunday nights for worship and dinner! Been collaborating a lot with Pastor Craig over the years, he's an amazing guy. If you're curious about details, PCC co-president Atticus can help.
  • PCC Discord's here! Can't wait to grow our community into digital spaces. Let's spend a week or two puttering around getting to know it and each other.
  • Drop-in Counseling is happening today! See you 2:30 - 4:00 at my office just off of Fireside Lounge. Put your name on the dry erase board and knock if you want to wait in line, can't wait to catch up.
