Alma de Mexico RIT is the first official RIT Club to share Mexican Culture. The purpose of Alma de Mexico RIT is to increase the visibility of and engagement with Mexican culture in RIT and in the Rochester Community by sharing the most thrilling demonstrations of traditional dance, music, food and other cultural activities related to Mexican culture. How can you participate? Respond to this survey to sign up for 1) dance practice, 2) music practice. Both activities will be scheduled for the same day, one after the other, so you can do either of them, or both! Express your interest in the survey, the Whatsapp Group, or by responding to this email. Dance Practice Sign up for dance practice and learn how to move to the beat of many regional genres from Mexico! We will start with music from the States of Guerrero and Chiapas. All levels are welcome! Watch a Dance from Chiapas example demonstration here!  Music Practice Learn the most popular songs in the Mexican repertoire. No experience required, and in some cases we will provide the instruments, so feel free to inquire what is available! See an example here. We are celebrating Day of the Dead at 6pm tonight with some sweet bread and hot chocolate! Register before 3pm so we can approximate headcount for bread and hot chocolate! We are meeting in LBJ 2500. No food or drinks allowed; these will be served outside of the room. No shoes either; bring a pair of clean shoes if you don't want you dance in your socks. We are researching members' and venues' availability and we'll be announcing soon a new time and place for our weekly meetings. Submit your availability now!
