PCC News for Tuesday, April 2nd:

 Cottage by Vincent Van Gogh

Image Description: At first glance the earthen cottage seems muddy and worn. After a deeper look at its thick roof and the windswept trees along it, we see how the cottage provides warmth and comfort to its inhabitants. A small flickering candle in the window leads us to consider how toasty and cozy it is inside.

Happy Easter, PCC. We're not quite at the Spring thaw, it's going to a chilly few days. As we gather together and find the warmth we know we'll find in community, et's see who else needs to find their way home. One step at a time.

Tonight! Dinner Dialogue, Vocation and Faith:

This week we'll lean into the "He is risen!" exuberance of the season and plan forward. How do our lives, work, and studies intersect?

How do we find the faith in the seemingly arbitrary decisions of degree planning and job getting? Let's dive in and eat some pizza.

Christianity is Weird:

Rapture culture was everywhere in the early 2000s. The Left Behind books (Which were inspired by the book of Revelation and a BANGER Larry Norman song called I wish we'd all been ready) had every Evangelical Christian child terrified of sudden disappearances and God forgetting them. A million dollar industry around faith panic.

Kirk Cameron (pictured above) had made the pivot from sitcom heartthrob to outspoken Christian rights activist; we didn't quite know what to make of it. The idea that God was going to disappear a huge chunk of people (but somehow forget some?) was a million-dollar book series, graphic novel, movie series, TEEN ADAPTATION LEFT BEHIND KIDS LOL. These folks were audaicious.

Today's weirdness (as we bask in resurrection and remember that salvation is ours to inherit) is that the rapture was and continues to be a safe haven to presume God is going to fix things on our behalf. Without undue judment or smug "we know better," the rapture's weird.

Almost done:

PCC, we're gearing up for the end of the year. I know it seems far away, but our graduates are walking and robing in.... 6 weeks!

What do we want the end of the year to look like? Do we want to reflect back and get nostalgic? Shall we start planning for 2024-2025 and get excited to welcome some first years?

Let's discuss. Let me know. What a year it's been.
