PCC News for Tuesday, September 9th:

Image ID: Three PCCers hold up full paper bags in a well lit narthex. They smile with the certainty of treats and vitamins. Behind them is a Chapel cart well stocked with communion supplies, fried rice, fresh fruit, and even more care packages. What a bounty! The afternoon light out the windows catches the side of their faces, beaming all around.

As the air cools, now's a good time to remember provision. Both the providence of God -- manna from heaven reflected in a church care package -- and the holy spirit reminder that we will not be left alone. Never left without.

This week holds the promise of ceremony and settling in. We've got work to do, but we're going to share the lift each step of the way. Be of good cheer and light spirit, PCC. We got this.

Tonight: Music & Meaning

Schmitt Interfaith Center's Skalny Room
5:00 - 6:30

New music! Companionship. We're back to one of our simplest, chillest ways to live in community.

Music & Meaning is a chance for us to "pass the aux cable" and remember how people used to listen to vinyl records. (How some of us still do.)

Each month we collaborate to create a unique playlist around a theme. You'll be amazed at how much our music aligns, how fun it is to see what we have in common as artsy-spiritual nerds.

This week our theme will be "Songs to invite the leaves to change colors."

No wrong ways to interpret the theme; Rochester fall, after all.

~*~* Christianity is Magic*~*~

Here's one to slow your heart rate. I took this picture on the hillside just above our house, I was stunned by how bucolic it felt. I've seen this hillside look a hundred ways, this was the first time it looked like the opening shot of a Superman movie. (Not that new one tho. Fine flick but the cinematography was all grayscale! Weird.)

The phrase "God's Creation" has been more real to me since I've moved here, there are so many pieces of Western NY unspoiled by human hands. This is just how the field grows! Trees grow and fall, birds fly overhead, it will continue on long after our trials and troubles cease.

I hope you find a way to breathe into some nature -- I recommend the spiritual practice of forest bathing as one of your tools this week -- and remember how creative God's always been. Maybe we can glean some of that creativity in what we make...

Coming Up:
  • Saturday 9/13 is my wedding day! Stop by UR's interfaith chapel at 11:00 AM for a very fun, very gay ceremony before some snacks downstairs. I'll be out next week, PCC co-presidents Atticus and Elly will be leading our program.
  • Which they will announce here on our discord! Hop in, it's sooooo fun.
  • Join our lovely TABLE Community on Sunday nights for worship and dinner! Been collaborating a lot with Pastor Craig over the years, he's an amazing guy. If you're curious about details, PCC co-president Atticus can help.
  • Drop-in Counseling is happening today! See you 2:30 - 4:00 at my office just off of Fireside Lounge. Put your name on the dry erase board and knock if you want to wait in line, can't wait to catch up. A few folks already on the list.
