PCC News for Tuesday, October 3rd:

We told Kaz to go explore the creek thinking he'd be scared but he called our bluff. They'll always surprise us.

What's new? Well, we've got pets in our lives. Before Fall Break, let's take the opportunity to welcome some fluffy joy in our lives. Consider the pets that have brought you solace, let's see how divinity flows past our silly human brains straight into the hearts of the animals around us.

Today: SRL Blessing of the Animals

Why do we bless animals in our lives? Because God loves them as much as we do.

When and where will we bless them? Just outside SAU (close to the Ben and Jerry's / Nathan's entrance) from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

What's a blessing? Could be a friendly word, sharing a word, or a prayer.

Bring your pets, pictures, or facetime a turtle from home!

Tonight: Dinner Dialogue: Dominion Edition

Some folks in faith believe God calls us to have "dominion" over the Earth and its inhabitants, what's that about? Let's eat some pizza and discuss whether this word looks one way, many ways, or something entirely different.

Heads Up!

Don't forget,n ext week is RIT's fall break. We won't be having PCC programming or sending out any communication. We'll be back on Tuesday 10/17 for Karaoke Club to sing and share some of our three favorite songs. (One to heal, one to challenge, theme song.) Rest well, folks.

Q&A with Chaplain Sam:

We had a ton of feedback from the DEIA panel a few weeks ago that involved students texting panelists questions about college, life and faith. Let's get some of those fantastic questions answered!

I am a male who has been raised Christian. I have practically been taught that being anything but straight is a sin. However, I often find myself being attracted towards other guys as well as girls. I know it’s not wrong but those teachings have been ingrained in me. How can I get over that?

“Get over it” is a big feeling, I resonate with that because I wanted the same thing when I was young. I wonder if there could be a more integrated approach that lets your faith and your queerness dance together. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with loving someone and revealing who you’re meant to be as a queer person. Scripture’s full of it – peoples’ hips going out of joint as they receive a new name, folks flaunting gender norms in public and receiving Jesus’ blessing. Jesus himself shone with a dazzling light so bright it made his friends cower in fear. How fabulous! Dear friend: remember, you are beloved just as you are.  That’s inarguable. Perhaps using the teachings to reveal who you are rather than refuting who you are could be a joyous process.
