Hello Writers, Creatives and Creative Writers

Hope you all survived the week-and-a-half of classes and got back into the swing of things (at least a little bit). Aren’t we all wishing for another fall break? I know I am. Even if we can’t give you that, we’ve got some fun stuff lined up to keep that creative energy flowing —so let’s dive into this week’s updates!

Yes, Sharks in a Tornado.

How? Only one way to find out. Our next regular meeting will feature a movie night! We’ve bravely decided that our first communal horror watch will be none other than the delightfully ridiculous Sharknado. We’ll have popcorn, and you’re encouraged to bring along any plushies or cosy gear you like for maximum comfort. The date is locked for Thursday, October 30th, Mischief Night, at 8 PM in EAS-3335, so mark your calendars. We hope you're ready for a night of cheesy special effects and lots of laughs!

Mid-Semester Feedback Form

As we have had quite a few meetings this semester, it feels only right to hear back from you all about how we can better run this club. So please take a couple minutes and fill out this feedback form:

Thanks to the incredible turnout at our poetry workshop and zine-making session, we’re launching a new tradition. Every other Friday night, we’ll alternate between a poetry open mic and a scrapbooking/journaling night. Starting this coming Friday in WAL-1660 at 7 PM, you can drop by to share your poetry or get hands-on with some creative scrapbooking.
On poetry nights, bring whatever you’ve been working on—no sign-up needed, and you can get feedback or just share in a chill, supportive atmosphere.
On scrapbooking nights, we’ll have supplies like scissors, papers, old magazines, and glue, but you can bring your own journal or materials if you want. It’s all about unwinding and getting creative together after a long week of classes.

Remember our Hallo-Zine?

Well, this is your friendly nudge that we're in the final week for submissions.

If you’ve got any last-minute ideas—be it prose, poetry, short stories, essays, jokes, comic strips, drawings, paintings, artwork, doodles, storyboards, photography, landscapes, or even those fun half-finished concept sketcheswe want it ALL!
Whether you’re a writer, artist, doodler, or just someone with a camera and a pumpkin obsession, we want to feature your work. If you’re thinking, “But I’m not really a writer or artist,” nonsense! The HallowZine is open to everyone, regardless of skill level or experience. The only real requirement is enthusiasm—and, you know, sticking to something Halloween-y. You can go scary, cozy, romantic, tragic, absurd, or all of the above. The theme is broad, and so is our appetite for creativity.
Check out the attached poster and the submission form for all the details. Let’s see what hauntingly creative stuff you come up with!
