I get the sense that this week is a bit sick n' tired for many. I'm hearing stories of folks feeling a bit overwhelmed, a bit under the weather. Some days feel like you're walking through the labyrinth with no way out. Thankfully, we have what we need to keep finding the next step. May the Spirit of something new keep us all going during these color-changing fall days.

Tonight: PCC Karaoke Night 1.0
Karaoke's an art form. Karaoke's culture. But is it a spiritual practice? Let's find out. For our first session we're going to talk some Karaoke Theory, we'll get heady and geeky about it so we can set the stage for future singing. Remember, the #1 rule of PCC Karaoke Club is to sing from the heart! We can all do that.

Q&A with Chaplain Sam:
We had a ton of feedback from the DEIA panel a few weeks ago that involved students texting panelists questions about college, life and faith. Let's get some of those fantastic questions answered!
What specifically did you discover that made you realize the Bible/traditional Christianity was wrong about gender identity and how can you help traditional Christians understand it’s ok, normal, and not against gods design to be a part of LGBTQ+ identity?
I can keenly remember when I was in a high school bible study with my old church when we studied a part of the Hebrew Bible that broke open my idea of God. I started to ask “Can God really be that way…?” I started to see God as a bunch of different messy complementary things rather than one answer all the time. That was the first step in learning a different way to live in faith, making space for queerness, and learning that “God’s design” is as fabulous as we are.
PS - if we go back a few hundred years in Christian history there was a ton of tolerance and affirmation for same-sex partners in the early church. It's always been tolerant and loving since the beginning. :) |
