PCC News for Tuesday, November 4th:

Image ID: Dappled fall light weaves through trees beginning to lose their leaves. Small trees soak in the crisp sun perched above a drifting creek. A wood shed is full of logs, for now. Fall has arrived to the Finger Lakes, at last!

From Autumnal throws to autumnal views, fall's here to stay. How's your soul feeling?

These crisp days can sap us of energy if we're not careful, (vampiric fall leaves) I wonder how we can find some habits and practices that invite cozy gratitude. We've got so much to live for, so much to work towards, so much hope in what we're doing.

Thank God for the gift of finding one another! Thank God we can gather and worship in our queer and geeky way so freely. We're blessed, folks. Let's breathe it in.

Tonight: Dinner Dialogue (Music & Meaning preview and Cole Arthur Reilly talk?!)

PRISM (Campus Center, 2050)
5:00 - 6:30ish

Let's get some dinner from Mecate! I'll order at 2:00 at the latest, please have your request into the PCC food discord thread (Thanks Elly!) by then.

It's been a long time since we've had music and meaning so we'll frontload next week's Worship Remix with a two-parter. We'll start this two parter playlist with a simple theme: "Songs to get started." Interpret how you will...

Then! Folks are invited to head downstairs to listen to a lecture from theologian and writer Cole Arthur Reilly at 6:00. Cole's work and writing has been a wonderful balm for the progressive church, can't wait to see what she brings to faith on campus.

~*~* Christianity is Magic*~*~

A bit of radical Bible study today:

Here's one of our lectionary passages from this past week. At worship this past Sunday we discussed Habakkuk's funny sort of prophecy, more journal entry than commandment. Strange structure, deep conviction.

For days I've had Chapter 2 Verse 2 pulsing through my head -- Write the vision, make it plain on tablets, so that a runner may read it.

We live in a time of widespread corruption and neglect, communication patterns could crash down around us if we're not faithful and vigilant. (Strong words, I know!)

As we consider speaking truth to power in protest, in the art we create, and for the sake of reformation: how can we find the courage to "make it plain" against systems and powers designed to subjugate? Can we speak boldly and know that God is with us?

One prophet thinks so.

Perhaps we'll follow suit!
