From: Women in Technology Date: May 3, 2024 Subject: Wind Down with WIT! End of Semester Wrap-up
In these waning days of the Spring 2024 semester, I'd like to take a moment to thank our Women in Technology community and supporters for a phenomenal academic year.
Thank you so much for attending and participating in events, helping to promote and celebrate the successes of our community, and recognizing the possibilities for programs like Women in Technology.
Wishing all the best for a happy and safe summer,
Leah Mackin, Advisor to Women in Technology Coordinator of Student Success and Engagement

Things are looking a little different around here!
Women in Technology has been unveiling a new look over this Spring semester. We are SO excited to announce our new graphic identity designed by Ayanna Oden, Robotics and Manufacturing Engineering Technology ‘25. Ayanna’s design was selected by the WIT E-Board and Advisors from a number of submissions in our design competition.

In addition to using this graphic in marketing materials, Women in Technology Vice President Sophia Adams used her CAD skills to create a file for 3D Printing. In March, Sophia led a workshop with Women in Technology at the SHED Makerspace where participants drafted their own CAD robot files. Since then, we’ve been making oodles of 3D-printed robot keychains!

Women in Technology celebrates achievements and successes in our community. We're proud to kick off this new Spotlight Series by celebrating two College of Engineering Technology students who recently were awarded Community Impact Awards!
"I extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Aponte, an inspiring Latina leader and the Assistant Dean of Students in the College of Engineering Technology, for her invaluable mentorship. Serving as a senior peer mentor, I've had the honor of participating in panels for prospective students, aiming to inspire marginalized families to consider RIT. Advocating for on-campus job opportunities to underclassmen friends is a passion of mine, highlighting the importance of practical experiences. I am looking forward to continuing my engineering journey and contributing to a better world."
- Nayely Gonzales, Mechanical Engineering Technology '25
Nayely is the recipient of the Alfred L. and Ruby C. Davis Scholarship, given to students who have demonstrated significant effort toward the improvement and quality of campus.
Onvida Serixay is a 2nd year in Computer Engineering Technology, recently receiving the Susan Willoughby, Lanette Moore and Cheryl Bulls Memorial Scholarship. The award is given to a student who demonstrates leadership through involvement in student groups and/or community activities as an ALANA student.
She is on E-Boards for the College Panhellenic Council and Student Alumni Alliance while volunteering with multiple organizations across RIT, including Women in Technology, Computing Organization for Multicultural Students and Women in Computing.
Women in Technology invites members to get involved in an opportunity to help create content, grow our community, and share what we do!
The Social Media Committee would work with the Women in Technology Advisor, Leah Mackin, to craft social media campaigns that coincide with Women in Technology events, initiatives, and programs.
