Details
The Women, Gender, & Sexuality Resource Center presents "The Somedays Period Pain Simulator"! With over a billion views on TikTok, the Period Pain Simulator is spreading awareness & empathy (and pain!) The device works by sending small electrical impulses directly to abdominal muscles, causing it to contract in a similar way to how prostaglandins induce muscle contractions during menstruation.
Somedays' goal was to create a tangible experience for those who don't suffer from period pain, to foster empathy, and to facilitate open communication. The simulator has been extensively tested on individuals with and without periods, validating its accuracy over 2,000 times.
Get ready for a memorable event designed to engage and inspire empathy. The Period Simulator isn't just about fun. It's about creating awareness of period pain and its impact on daily life. Somedays believes in sparking conversations about a topic that's often overlooked. The simulator serves as an engaging platform for guests to discuss and experience an issue that affects so many people.
Why It Matters
Awareness: Understand the spectrum of experiences of people who menstruate including those that suffer from menstrual disorders.
Empathy and Validation: Feel the pain to foster empathy and show solidarity with those who experience period pain in their lives.
Impact: Encourage communication and start discussions about once-taboo topics, such as periods and chronic pain, and how to better support people struggling.
Please see the Period Pain Simulator Sign-Up to have a chance at experiencing the simulator (SPACES ARE LIMITED)! Challenge your frat brothers, see which athletes have the highest pain tolerance, see your professor or favorite staff member experience the simulator! *Must be 18+ and sign a waiver to participate.
