Get ready to ROAR the Vote this year! Come learn about voting as a college student and how you can register to vote (or re-register!) and take part either through in-person voting or absentee voting. Get prepared for the upcoming elections and learn how you can explore your civic identity with the Center for Leadership & Civic Engagement. Summer break may be over, but Camp CAB is in session! Participate in your first RIT 365 hands-on learning experience alongside your class facilitators. Together with their Orientation group, students will take part in one of RIT’s largest service events of the year -The Hunger Project! With orange hair nets and teamwork as your guiding forces, you will create 115,000 nutritious meals for Rochester’s FoodLink to be distributed to our neighbors. This event is a high-energy, outdoor program featuring foam jousting and spikeball. Designed to be fun, engaging, and inclusive for all new students, the event encourages connection, teamwork, and friendly competition. Hosted by the Interfraternity Council (IFC), this program was a huge hit with incoming students last year and is back by popular demand. It’s a great way to kick back, meet new people, and enjoy some memorable moments during Orientation. (Rain Location: Fireside Lounge / 1829 Room / Brick City Al Davis)

The Interior Design Club is open to all students—both majors and non-majors—who are interested in design, creativity, and hands-on projects. Create your own mood board with the Interior Design Club! Craft your vision for the semester: textures, magazines, and inspiration provided.

We will be doing a demo of Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) techniques using longswords. We will go over some introductory cuts and guards, show off some steel-on-steel longsword sparring, and allow incoming students to do a small amount of sparring with boffer (foam) swords.

Join Caribbean Student Association, Black Awareness Coordinating Commitee, Organizations of African Students, Unity House, and Global Union for an afternoon of food, fun, and games! Start your 2025-2026 academic year by connecting with faculty, PAS guides, and your new performing arts peers at our performing arts scavenger hunt! This is a fantastic opportunity to explore our theaters, studios, and rehearsal spaces while learning about the exciting opportunities that await you this academic year. The evening concludes with a reception in the SHED, featuring food, prizes and plenty of time to mingle. This event is open to all students interested in the performing arts. Registration encouraged.

"Where do we go on Sunday at 5 p.m.?" We go to Mass. Join the Newman Catholic Community at RIT in worship on Sundays at 5 p.m.

We gather on Sunday evenings for worship at 6:30 p.m. in the Allen Chapel inside the Schmitt Interfaith Center. Normally, we have music, readings from Holy Scriptures, either an Episcopal Priest or Lutheran Pastor will give a very brief sermon, and finally gather at the altar for communion. This is an opportunity for us to gather and take time to worship God in some new and maybe more creative ways. We hope you join us each week at The Table and consider becoming a part of our faith community on campus at RIT/NTID.

We do provide ASL interpreters each week, so let us know if you are coming.

Bounce back into the semester with a bang! Join CAB for an epic night of giant inflatables, local food trucks, and a balloon artist bringing fun to life! We’re capping the night off with a dazzling firework show from 9:00–9:30 PM. It’s the ultimate welcome party you won’t want to miss!

After our Sunday Worship service, we generally gather downstairs in the Skalny Room for a meal together. It is okay if you missed worship, but you are required to register, preferably before our dinners. Usually, these meals are provided by local Lutheran and Episcopal Churches from around the City and outskirts of Rochester.

Get ready for Firework Festivities! Join us for an evening of dazzling fireworks and great company. It’s the perfect way to celebrate, relax, and enjoy a spectacular show. Bring your friends and family, and let’s light up the night together! Viewing can be done outside of the Gordon Field House and Activities Center, Greek Lawn, Club Field, and Fox Lane. Please do not view Fireworks from the area around Lomb Memorial Drive on the North side of the Residence Halls.

This is a drive-through process, no need to get out of your car! You will then be directed to the appropriate color zone based on your residence hall assignment. Residence Life staff will be at all of the zones to assist you in unloading your car and checking out carts.

The Parent and Family Lounge is a space for family members (and students!) to take a break from the busy day with easy activities and parent swag.

Each year, the Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement (CLCE) sells RIT Family t-shirts at the New Student Orientation Resource Fair to support the Alternative Break (AB) Scholarship Fund. On AB, students spend 5-9 days learning about critical challenges facing communities across the globe, interacting with local leaders, and performing short-term projects with community agencies. Since its inception in 2005, 662 students have volunteered through AB in 37 different cities and communities across the globe. Their work has resulted in over 19,000 hours of direct service equaling $573,000+ in economic impact. To ensure AB is accessible and affordable to all students, CLCE offers a scholarship program that can cover up to half the cost of their trip. Paired with crowdfunding, many students are able to significantly lower the cost of their total trip – and some don’t pay a penny out of pocket. Last year, 92% of students were able to reduce the cost of their trip through these means!
