Rochester Fringe Workshop--Making Magic with Lights (Emily Stork)

Interpreting is available upon request. Please submit interpreting requests to myAccess.rit.edu.

Lighting design can create big splashy effects and can support a story by establishing specific time of day and enhancing the mood of a story. Join us to explore the ways a designer uses lighting tools and new technologies to create magic onstage. Through the use of moving lights and LEDs we will create lighting looks together and explore how understanding the functions and controllable properties of light can make all the difference in creating exciting theatre.

Try out PUSH's unique hybrid of movement traditions based in Physical Theatre, Non-Traditional Partnering, Viewpoints Work, Corporeal & Illusionary Mime, and Release Technique. Physical illusions and gravity-defying, dance-infused, acrobatic high-jinx for performers at all levels. https://www.pushtheatre.org/

Note for all PUSH Classes: These classes do not require a particular body type, fitness level or training background. However, physical conditioning and physical contact between participants is part of the course. Every effort will be made to create a respectful, non-competitive environment that challenges each individual at his/her own level.
Wear light, easy, comfortable clothing. Sweatpants, t-shirts, or dance attire is recommended. No skirts, shorts, tight jeans, belts, hats, heavy jewelry. You will be asked to remove any hats, bandanas, sunglasses, jewelry, etc. that will inhibit the work. Bare feet are recommended but you may also wear socks or light soled dance shoes (not dance sneakers).

About PUSH Physical Theatre:
Intense athleticism, gravity-defying acrobatics, and soulful artistry – award-winning PUSH Physical Theatre, the genre-defining masters of physical storytelling, express what it means to be human: the joy and sorrow, humor and tragedy, the big questions and the simple things. PUSH’s repeated sold-out performances have led to creative collaborations with the National Institute for the Deaf and Rochester Institute of Technology, during which PUSH created “Red Ball,” using iPad technology. Choreography for the Pulitzer-nominated cantata "Comala" resulted in a Mexico and US tour. TruTV’s national series, Fake Of , in which PUSH became the season finalist, elicited this from judge and Glee star Harry Shum Jr.: “You guys are superhuman!” Unparalleled performers bring the narratives of our lives to the stage with hope and optimism: The strength of the human soul expressed by the power of the human body. – Ready?
