Off Campus & Commuter Services

Promoting the support and growth of RIT's off-campus and commuter community

About Us

At RIT's Off-Campus & Commuter Services (OCCS), we aim to assist off-campus and commuter students in every way possible. Whether it be accommodating off-campus and commuter students' needs, answering any questions related to living off-campus, promoting off-campus and commuter involvement through our many events, or providing a space for off-campus and commuter students to meet and mingle, our organization prides itself in supporting and growing the off-campus and commuter community at RIT. Be sure to stop by our Commuter Lounge in the Campus Center, Room A650, to visit the staff and meet other commuter and off-campus students.

The Commuter Lounge

The lounge offers a place to relax and recharge for all off-campus and commuter students at RIT! Not only is it a great place to study - with new lounge chairs and built-in wall cubbies to store your things - it is also a place to chill and hang out with friends. The lounge offers free coffee, TV, Wii and Xbox devices, free printing, computers, and a lounge fridge/freezer perfect for storing your lunch. We also provide board games, puzzles, a phone charging station, and a space just for you that is dedicated to building a community among off-campus and commuter students. Commuter Ambassadors are in the lounge Monday - Friday from 8:00AM - 8:00PM.

Staffing the lounge at all times is our team of Commuter Ambassadors. They are there to answer any questions and be of service to off-campus and commuter students. They play a pivotal role in the planning and execution of events catered to OCCS students throughout the year! Commuter Ambassadors are a great connection to make because they are part of the OCCS community too! Stop by the lounge any time, grab a free coffee, and meet the team!

How Do We Define Off-Campus & Commuter Students?

RIT defines a commuter student as any student living at "home" (generally with a family member, parent or guardian). If you are not residing in college-owned housing or at home, you are considered an off-campus student. If you live at Park Point, Province, The Hill, or The Lodge, you are also considered an off-campus student.
