Hello All,
We are reaching out with an important update related to the 2020 Career Ready Bootcamp. As you know, RIT's transition to the fall term in the face of COVID-19 is still underway. In light COVID-19 complications, we have been notified that housing and dining services are unable to accommodate any pre-fall programming. This impacts our ability to offer this year's Career Ready Bootcamp, which was tentatively scheduled to take place in mid-August. Although there is much disappointment related to the need to cancel the program, we have made plans to offer an alternative Summer Career Series that will give you a strong start to your co-op preparation.
The NHI Summer Career Series is an arrangement of virtual sessions that will help you prepare for the process of seeking a co-op. Each of 5 sessions in the series will take place between August 3rd and August 14 (exact dates and times TBD). Each session will be 60 minutes long and will cover the following critical topics:
Session 1: Getting a Headstart: job search basics, common pitfalls to avoid, RIT resources related to the co-op search
Session 2: Creating a Winning Resume: introducing and detailing your strengths and skills
Session 3: Basic Interview Skills: creating an elevator pitch and decoding common interview questions
Session 4: Disclosure: understanding disability disclosure decisions
Session 5: Mock interview and feedback: 1:1 virtual session with an employer who recruits through SSP and NHI
In the next few weeks, we will be finalizing the session dates and times and will provide you with a ZOOM link for each session. We will also forward you instructions on how to schedule your mock interview. PLEASE NOTE: The mock interview session is being offered exclusively for students who were admitted to the 2020 Career Ready Bootcamp. Students must attend all sessions and complete a post-session questionnaire in order to participate in the mock interview. Sessions will be recorded.
We look forward to offering you this exciting opportunity and will be in touch again soon!
