Velocity is a student-run urban dance team at RIT. We aim to foster a positive and supportive environment so that our members can freely express themselves. Our goal has always been to leave everything on the dance floor and nothing less, whether it be in practice, on stage, or in hosting our annual event: RIT's Best Dance Crew (RBDC). Every spring, we invite dance teams from colleges across upstate New York to compete in our multi-genre dance competition. Genres include hip hop, belly dance, Afro Caribbean, Latin, stepping, Bhangra, and contemporary. The event is also free and open to the public. By providing a platform for teams with various dance styles to showcase their talent, we wish to share our collective passion for dance with the community in hopes that more people will be inspired to live out their passions as well. We also host bi-weekly urban dance workshops which are also open to the public. We encourage everyone to participate regardless of experience levels.
