Mission
Founded in 2003, the RIT Ballroom Dance Club is a social club sponsored by Student Government that focuses on providing students and interested persons of all skill levels with instruction and the resources necessary to become involved in recreational or competitive ballroom dance. No partner or experience is necessary; our only requirement is that you have fun!

We expose regular members to the majority of traditional ballroom and latin/rhythm dances, primarily providing instruction for waltz, tango, foxtrot, cha-cha, rumba, and east coast swing in both the American and International styles. On occasion, instruction for dances not on our typical syllabus, such as bolero and Viennese waltz, may also be provided.

We're just a small part of a larger community of dance clubs on the RIT campus. Therefore, we encourage our members to experiment with new and different styles of dance in order to improve their individual ability, meet new people, and achieve a more rounded knowledge of dance in general.

Many of us started right here at RIT in the Wellness program. If you didn't know, RIT Wellness offers beginner ballroom and latin classes (that count toward your graduation requirements!) as well as intermediate classes for more experienced dancers. Dance classes are listed under the course subject WDAN on SIS; trust us, it will be a ton of fun!

The RIT Cosplay Troupe is a RIT club, full of hobbyists and actors that all share an interest in cosplay, crafts, performing arts, and geek-media.

Encore has been active since 1996, but not until 2003 did we leave behind our piano-accompaniment-based roots and truly become RIT's first all-female a cappella group! Since then, we've been rocking events on and off campus, traveling all over the state (and occasionally internationally!) to perform music ranging from 50's swing music to modern pop.

The Latin Rhythm Dance Club is open to all levels of experience and exhibits a wide variety of styles, including salsa, bachata, and merengue, to the RIT community through lessons, performances, and events.
