Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have musical experience?

No experience necessary! Any skill level is welcome. We'll teach you everything you need to know.

What about equipment and what should I bring to practice?

We will have some equipment available for you to use. We recommend that members eventually make or buy their own pair of bachi (drum sticks) to practice with. We recommend wearing athletic clothing to practice as taiko is an very active instrument. Performers do need their own uniform though for performances!

How do I become a performer?

Members who work hard to learn the beats and choreography will have a chance to tryout for the performance team. You can try out during a normal tryout or by reaching out to an eBoard member.

What if I need an interpreter?

If you require an interpreter, no problem! We'll work with you to make sure an interpreter is present. If you're Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing, you'll still be able to feel the vibrations of the drums.
