We are postponing the Taekwondo Club E-Board elections. We do not know RIT’s status for the fall semester. In the event RIT does not reopen campus, postponing the election will help maintain the stability our club has established over the years by allowing the current E-Board to manage the club until August.
This grace period will achieve the following. The current E-Board will progress ongoing projects left incomplete due to campus closing. We will also prepare the club for whatever RIT decides to do and hopefully bring a comprehensive plan for the new E-Board to take over for the fall semester. For members interested in E-Board or future projects, take this time to confirm your plans for the fall before committing to a position.
Forgetting the pandemic for a moment – this year was fantastic for the club! I want to thank everyone we’ve seen these past two semesters. Special thanks to those of you who participated in social events, extra practices, and tournaments. This was the first year in many we’ve seen regular attendance at events outside of normal practices. We look forward to continuing these in the future. It was also the first year we’ve sent a team to every ECTC tournament. We hope everyone returns as we continue expanding the team.
And of course, the biggest thanks goes to our brilliant, one-of-a-kind coach, William Estey! With him, we’ve transformed a small group into a sustainable club with deep competitive roots and an ever-expanding campus presence. Along with Arkia Vanner, Sunny Kim, and Rex Bartolini, Will has gone above and beyond to push this club forward. This past year I trusted them to take on new roles as we rearranged responsibilities and started new projects. They delivered far more than anyone could have asked for. There is no better team I could have asked for as President.
I look forward to seeing everyone next year. Until then, stay safe and healthy!
