Mission RIT/NTID Student Life Team provides a campus environment which supports transformational community and individual student activities, learning, and growth. What is Student Life Team? Student Life Team (SLT) is a professional service focused on college students. SLT centers around three main categories: [1] Support and serve Deaf and Hard of Hearing students of all year levels at RIT. Not only that, we also support organizations such as ALANNA, and clubs. [2] Provide an environment where students can learn, grow, and understand themselves and the community. [3] Develop partnerships, a network, and collaborations across RIT campus and with the community for the purpose of providing the best resources to our students.Mission: "Dare to be Rare!" The Student Life Team is exceptional in its success in supporting, advocating for and with, and challenging deaf and hard of hearing college students, while establishing and maintaining an ethic of care and concern for and in this environment. All of this leading to a significant and positive quality of academic and social life on campus. Mission/Goal 1: Outreach and Connection with Students: Support, advocacy, and challenge cannot happen until we know students. This means utilizing intentional individual efforts, as well as working intentionally as supervisors to initiate and maintain an effort to increase visibility, information gathering and a true spirit of comfort in this department. Mission/Goal 2: Resource Expertise: Through on-going participation in presentations, programs and staff development opportunities, SLT staff are expected to consistently identify area for new resource growth and to pursue appropriate avenues for on-going development. Mission/Goal 3: Programmatic Impact and Support: Current and documented needs in the area of FYE support in particular, and community support in general, require SLT to establish and/or maintain innovative programming in the following areas: FYE co-curricular Late Night Multicultural Leadership Development Mission/Goal 4: Connections across the college and larger university: SLT must establish solid and systematic connections with colleagues across the college of NTID, and within RIT's greater university.
