Starting out at the competition our snowmobile ran into some issues with the engine that we planned to run. After extensive diagnosis and work being performed on it, we concluded that the issue was located within the engine block and was not repairable. Therefore our sled was unable to maintain a running condition. While knowing that we had no way of passing the dynamic technical inspection performed by the competition judges, our team fixed the sled up enough so that we'd have the ability to at the least pass the static technical inspection. And pass it we did!
Despite the disappointment of not being able to compete, our team learned many value lessons and increased our technical knowledge through the many hours of work we put into attempting to repair the sled. Additionally, the members who participated strengthened their teamwork skills and bonded more closely with one another. We look forward to implementing many changes to our approach for next year.
The RIT Clean Snowmobile Team would like to extend a huge thank you to all of our sponsors who provided us with the means to accomplish the work we performed throughout the year. Additionally, we'd like to thank the competition judges for their hard work, long hours and understanding put into the competition. Some of them even went out of their way to assist the team more than was required of them. Lastly, we'd like to thank the other collegiate teams that donated their time helping us try and troubleshoot the issues our team was experiencing. While we may not have solved them in the end, the gesture of assistance and friendship was greatly appreciated.
