Experience the foundational principles of modern dance in this immersive Graham Technique Class. The session begins with an introduction to Martha Graham, exploring her life, groundbreaking career, significant accomplishments, and lasting influence on the art form. Participants will gain insight into her artistic philosophy and approach to movement, highlighted by a short excerpt from one of her iconic choreographic works.

The class transitions into center floor exercises centered on core Graham concepts: contraction and release, weight, breath, alignment, and the expressive potential of the body. Students then advance to across-the-floor progressions designed to build strength, coordination, musicality, and dynamic movement quality.

To conclude, dancers will learn original choreography inspired by Graham technique. This final section bridges classic principles with contemporary movement, offering participants the opportunity to refine their performance quality and explore their own artistic expression.Students should come prepared in moveable clothing.
