Paul Raymond, also known as VioletGray, is an electronic musician, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist known for their atmospheric soundscapes, and crushing drums. Taking influences from genres such as breakcore, shoegaze, metal, and more. In this workshop, we will be discussing their songwriting process, as well as sound design techniques. Utilizing Ableton native effects, third party VSTs, and hardware to create lush ambience and aggressive drums easily tailored to most genres.

Bio: Paul Raymond is an electronic musician with roots in orchestral music and metal, primarily playing cello and guitar. Later picking up other stringed instruments along the way, and eventually diving into music production. Originally composing orchestral scores in Finale in high school, while teaching themselves FL Studio. After enrolling at SUNY Oswego, they began learning Ableton under the guidance of Paul Leary. From there, they began exploring the interplay between all of their musical inspirations. Current projects include: VioletGray which explores a wide variety of electronic genres while focusing on breakcore, with three original songs in the top 100 of breakcore 2024 through Breakstation. SeventeenKnives which dives into shoegaze, emo, and metal. As well as a foray into punk with the band Safety Inn.
