Follow us on Instagram Call for Proposals: Love Data Lightning Talks 2024 International Love Data Week is right around the corner, and RIT Libraries is looking for faculty or graduate level participants to give quick 10 minute presentations for our lightning talk event. Love Data is an international celebration and awareness campaign hosted by the Institute for Social Research at University of Michigan and is designed to build community and understanding around research data. This year's theme is “My kind of Data”, which focuses on data equity, inclusion, and creating a kinder world through data. We encourage presentations that fit the theme, but welcome any projects that work with data, such as examples of how data is collected or used within your research. This call for proposals is open to all disciplines and stages of completion with preference given to graduate students. Submit presentation proposal > The Pell Institute invites your TRIO Student Support Services, McNair, and EOC students to participate in a paid research opportunity about the value of college credentials.
The Pell Institute at the Council for Opportunity in Education is embarking on a journey to understand the perspectives of Black, Latinx, and Indigenous TRIO learners in regard to the value of postsecondary credentials. The study funded by Lumina Foundation will explore students' career aspirations, financial concerns, and beliefs about the relationship between a postsecondary credential and future success. We invite TRIO college students to complete this survey. Upon completing the survey and verifying their TRIO status, the initial 1,000 participants will be rewarded with a $50 e-gift card! If you have any questions or concerns about the consent process, this survey, or the study at large, please contact Stephanie M. Breen, Research Associate at stephanie.breen@pellinstitute.org.

Would you like to spend a summer in a beautiful historical city, with one of the most vibrant cultures in Europe? How about learning in small classes where instructors challenge each student to deeply engage with the material? Please consider Summer@BSME, a 6-week summer program in Budapest, Hungary, designed for those interested in the learning and teaching of secondary mathematics. Participants explore the Hungarian pedagogy, in which a strong and explicit emphasis is placed on problem solving, mathematical creativity, and communication. Why Summer@BSME? Today’s teachers are expected to provide students with opportunities to struggle productively towards understanding, and the Hungarian pedagogy has the potential to play a critical role in this endeavor. At Summer@BSME, we are excited for our participants to develop and bring back this new perspective on mathematics education. We are currently accepting applications for Summer 2024 (due April 1). Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so apply early! More information, including the online application, can be found at bsmeducation.com.
