McNair Scholars updates and opportunities

Summer Research Update

Ready to get out of Rochester for a while?  Looking to do funded summer research?  Check out the many opportunities for funded summer research at universities across the country listed in the McNair Campus Groups general channel feed.  Most of these opportunities pay between $5000 and $6000, plus provide housing, meal plans, and travel money for you to get to their campus.  Nearly all listed opportunities have application deadlines between February 15 and March 1.  There is also a link in the feed to a searchable database of hundreds of additional funded summer research positions.  This summer the RIT McNair Scholars Program will be giving priority for funding to students who have never done research before.  All scholars are encouraged to apply to research at other universities, but if you have prior research experience at RIT, you are especially encouraged to apply to other universities for this summer to expand your research portfolio.

Lab Tour

We have been invited to tour RIT's AMPrint Center -- a lab on campus working on various 3D printing applications in health sciences, engineering, and more.  Use the event link below to register for this tour.  The AMPrint Center is one lab on campus where McNair Scholars can complete funded research!

What is Grad School?

Are you graduating after 2023 and wondering what you need to know now about graduate school?  Use the event link below to register for this workshop where you'll learn about different graduate degrees, finding the right school and program for you, and what you can do now to increase your chances for acceptance into your first choice grad program.

The Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program is recruiting new students!  This only happens once a year, and applications close on February 20, 2023.  Know someone who would be a great McNair Scholar?  Refer them to www.rit.edu/diversity/mcnair for full program details and a link to the program application.
