Join us for a special Coffee Hour conversation and lab tour with Dr. Christy Tyler, Professor of Environmental Science at RIT, whose research explores how aquatic ecosystems respond to human impacts and how we can help restore them.

☕️ December 2, 2025 from 1-2PM
📍 Location TBD

Dr. Tyler will share insights from her work on ecosystem restoration and the growing challenge of microplastic pollution, including an introduction to the Lake Ontario MicroPlastics Center (LOMP) — a joint initiative between RIT and the University of Rochester that investigates how plastics move through the Great Lakes and their potential effects on human and ecosystem health.

This session is also a chance to hear Dr. Tyler’s reflections on her career journey in academia, from her roots in ecology to leading interdisciplinary research that bridges science, community, and sustainability.

Whether you’re curious about environmental research, considering a future in academia, or simply interested in how science can inform real-world solutions, this conversation offers an inspiring look into the intersection of ecology, innovation, and leadership.
