Dae-Kun Kim, Ph.D., a Korean native with a California upbringing, is an assistant professor and CORE Coordinator in the English Program at Gallaudet University. His research explores Deaf readers' experiences with graphic novels and manga, focusing on fostering reading interest in Deaf elementary students and collecting Asian-American Deaf stories. He holds a Ph.D. and Ed.S. from Gallaudet, an M.S. in Secondary Deaf Education, and a B.S. in Information Technology from RIT. In his presentation, he will be focusing on his life journey as an [highlight: Asian Deaf American], reflecting on his growth and realization as one, and mirroring his journey with the brief history of the East Asian American community in the United States.
