Support our first-year students as they launch their RIT journey, cultivate relationships, and connect with others across campus

Facilitator Responsibilities

With your assigned class section of 24-26 students:

  • Co-facilitate a dialogue process through a Plan-Do-Reflect experiential learning cycle for 14 class meetings of 50 minutes, once per week
  • Participate in active learning experiences hosted by campus partners
  • Provide one-on-one ½ hour coaching sessions with each student
  • Attend, participate, and co-facilitate a community building session during the week prior to the start of classes
  • Provide support as needed to execute experiential activities within the course
  • Meet weekly with your Co-Facilitator to coordinate shared facilitation and administrative duties
  • Timely completion of administrative duties including completing coaching appointment notes, grading, early alert reporting, and other administrative communications
  • Provide additional administrative and class support as needed

Qualifications for Faculty/Staff/Alumni

  • Master’s degree
  • 1-3 years experience working with college students
  • Knowledge of and experience with the RIT community
  • If employed by RIT, must be an exempt employee

Pay: $1860 for one section
$3145 for two sections

Qualifications for Students

  • Minimum 2.6 cumulative GPA
  • Be in good standing with Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution
  • Full-time registered RIT undergraduate student
  • Knowledge of and experience with the RIT community

Pay: $1030 for one section

Note for Grad Students: Graduate students interested in applying for the Staff role must already have earned a master’s degree by start of the semester. Students in 4+1 graduate programs are elegible to apply for the Peer role.

Time commitment






Both virtual & in-person

2 days or equivalent (16 hrs)

July-August: Various online sessions totaling 8-10 hours, multiple offerings to choose from
Orientation Week: 6 hrs of in-person training on Aug 20th or 21st
