We hope your first week went well!

  • Rubric Reminde
  • Classroom Policies

FROM YOUR SEMESTER TO DO LIST

  • Submit roster verification
  • Begin coaching appointment sign-ups
  • Bi-weekly team meetings begin 9/2

ACTION REQUIRED: STARFISH ROSTER VERIFICATION REPORT

As you know, RIT 365 Facilitators have a crucial role in identifying “no-show” students for the University.
  • The Starfish surveys must be completed by the adjunct Facilitator no later than 24 hours after the 2nd class meeting.
    • They should have received an email from Starfish with instructions for completing the surveys. If the adjunct Facilitator has not received the Starfish email, reach out to Daniele for assistance.
  • Watch the Starfish Roster Verification Tutorial video or check the step-by-step guide for instructions, located on the Facilitator Resource Site.

BI-WEEKLY FACILITATOR MEETINGS

  • Required Bi-Weekly Facilitator meetings start this week. This is a time to share ideas and challenges with other Facilitators.
    • Please double-check your group assignment.
    • Bi-Weekly Calendar
      • All Bi-Weekly meetings take place in the Campus Center Bamboo Room 2610.

COACHING

  • Co-Facilitators should begin scheduling one-on-one coaching meetings with students.
    • Meeting with students earlier in the semester has a more positive impact on their experience and helps meet their needs as soon as possible.
  • All students must meet with each Facilitator once, for a total of two coaching sessions.
    • Tip: Some Co-Facilitators prefer to divide the class in half, with Facilitators each meeting with their half prior to October break, then switch to the other half after the break. Find what works best for you.
    • Discuss your plan together during your weekly Co meeting time.
  • Links for coaching surveys will be uploaded to the “Facilitators Only” section of myCourses on 9/14.
    • Take your own notes for each meeting to be transferred to the Coaching links when they are available.

COURSE INFORMATION & MATERIALS

  • Under no circumstances should class be canceled!
  • Planning for your absence
    • If you have a planned absence and would like support for the class, please communicate this to the YOP email in advance.
    • If you run into an emergency and need to miss class, please contact your Co-Facilitator immediately. If extra support is needed, you or your Co can reach out to YOP via phone at 585-475-6981. Outside of business hours, please leave a message.
      • Please be prepared to share the following information:
        • Whether your Co-Facilitator is aware of the absence.
        • Your day, time, and location
        • Whether or not you and your Co have already planned for your class
  • Reminders about your course materials:
    • Class schedules with unique meeting locations are linked in the “Class Links” box in the right sidebar of your myCourses homepage. Any rooms currently in process will be updated as soon as reservations are confirmed.
    • Experience Guides are found in the “For Facilitators Only” Content section of myCourses.
  • Keep attendance up to date in the gradebook. This helps students know their status in the class.
Have questions about anything myCourses or class schedule-related? Contact Wendy directly at wsgrla@rit.edu.

RUBRIC REMINDER

As we get closer to the first reflection cycle, we wanted to highlight one of the biggest benefits of the new grading workflow:
  • Review the reflection and complete the rubric in one place
  • Fewer clicks and less screen switching
  • Easier access to feedback and grading tools
Need a refresher? Check out our new Quick Reference Guide, designed to walk you through the grading process in just a few steps.

Whether you're brand new to RIT 365 or have facilitated for years, our hope is that the new workflow makes rubric-based grading easier than ever!

CLASSROOM POLICIES

Our classrooms are general use, and we support Facilitators' efforts at non-traditional use of classroom space. That said, it is important we are respectful of the shared nature of these spaces.

Classroom policies include:
  • Do not move tables unless they are on wheels. Move them back when you are done.
  • Some rooms will require a valid RIT ID for building or room access.
  • If the room is locked, please see a staff member nearby.
  • Divider walls are locked into position. Do not attempt to move them.
  • Use dry-erase markers ONLY on the dry boards.
  • For A/V equipment issues, contact Classroom Support at 585-475-2551

RELIGIOUS ACCOMMODATIONS

The Center for Spirituality and Religious Life has published the list of religious holidays for 2026.
  • Students may be excused from class to observe religious holidays and are still responsible for maintaining the work and expectations of the course.
  • RIT 365 Facilitators are expected to work with students to accommodate their needs and help them maintain their progress in the course.
  • The full list of holidays and RIT attendance policies can be found on the SRL website, as well as the RIT calendar, which shows campus wide holidays and closures.
